Rwanda Vs Guinea (Kigali Stadium, 15:30)
Central African Republic Vs Ivory Coast (6:00)
Rwanda take on Group H leaders Guinea in their fourth match of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at Kigali Stadium today, with the hosts still looking for their first win.
Vincent Mashami’s side are bottom with zero points after losing the last three games, while Guinea are three points clear at the top of the pile with 9 points.
After today’s crucial tie Amavubi will then host third placed Central Africa Republic on November before winding up their group matches away to Ivory Coast on March 22, 2019.
Amavubi lost 2-0 away to Guinea last Friday.
Mashami says his team will be looking for nothing less than all points from the remaining three games if they are to stand any chance of reaching next year’s finals showpiece in Cameroon scheduled June 15 - July 13.
And that has to start today, he said.
“We need to win our remaining games starting with Guinea. There is a possibility we can finish the campaign in a strong position. We are determined to do everything possible to achieve it,” he said.
He added: It has been a tough journey for us, but we need to finish on a high,” Mashami said.
Guinea recorded three successive victories following wins over Ivory Coast, Central African Republic and then Rwanda to edge close to qualification.
In the other Group H encounter tonight, Ivory Coast are away to Central African Republic.
The group winner and first runner-up will qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
