Freedom of expression simply means freely showing others how you feel and what you are thinking about. This can be done through speaking, writing, singing and other actions. All children too, have the right to freely express themselves.
This gives children the right to express their own opinions freely, with no restrictions. Sometimes because children are not allowed to speak in public or in the presence of elders, they become afraid of expressing themselves. This is not good because it makes it difficult to help children who may be facing a problem.
It is very important for parents, teachers and our friends to know how we feel about some things. Expressing yourself as a child is a very important part of growing up. This is when children learn to write better, communicate better and eventually develop the talents that are hidden within.
As Rwandan children, a lot of effort has been put in place to allow you to make your voices heard. This is through programmes in schools, the radio, newspapers and even the television.
This means that the time to speak out about your rights as children has come. Never be afraid of what people might think because children are important in any society.
