Dear readers,

This Friday we delve into an issue of health importance. If you are a resident of Kabeza or Kajeke in Kigali City, this plight touches you most and if you in Electrogaz, this issue calls for your immediate fixing.

It is deplorable to see those who are already down economically being given another beating. Water is one of the basic needs of man; it is used in cooking, washing, drinking or even as medication and it should be available in right quantities and safe for the smooth running of life.

Rwanda is setting itself for Vision 2020 and one of the indicators for its realisation is provision of clean water to the community. The health hazard waiting in Kabeza around Sondasi swamp should be a concern to officials at Electrogaz.

Being poor should not condemn the impoverished communities around Sondasi swamp to their early death. Drawing water from dirty streams because one cannot afford Frw50 for a jerrycan of water is lamentable, to say the least.

Meanwhile, today is World Teachers Day. Read about the woes of those in the teaching profession. This noble profession has attracted less prestige worldwide and further worsening the problem with meagre pay.

Though the government has tried to increase the teachers pay, it still falls short of the teachers expectations. Hopefully, in the next national budget, their concerns will be high on the agenda. Nice weekend.
