Sow seeds that are worth reaping

DURING her high school days, Miriam was a carefree girl who cared less about her studies. All she did while at school was to play, make noise in class, gossip, read novels and write love letters while other students were busy with their studies. She was always among the last when it came to class performance, indiscipline and she was absolutely comfortable with her grades and bad reputation at her school. Miriam came from a very wealthy family and probably thought she owned her parents’ riches. She did not reform throughout high school and proudly maintained her I-don’t-care-attitude. As you might have guessed, she definitely failed her high school since she was never a serious student. She reaped from what she sowed by wasting all her high school years like she was totally unaware of why she was in school. She could not even find a university to take her on since her grades were terrible and her parents’ filthy riches could not even help bribe her way into University. Today, she is struggling in life because she did not take the time to sow good seeds. She is struggling in life and cannot even find a job to earn her a good salary. She is too old to be taken care of by her parents. She has painfully fended for herself and her life is a cocktail of all sorts of struggles. Life is a nuisance and a thorn in the flesh for Miriam; she sowed bad seeds that have only reaped her pain because she simply was never focused at school. One would think she had escorted those that had gone to study since she benefited nothing all through high school. For some, school started a few days ago while for others, their long vacation is nearing to an end. This is one of those times of the year when everyone is starting to sow so they can reap in due season. Parents are busy toiling to put food on the table and save school fees for the next term, while serious students are also busy with their schoolwork. Everyone is sowing a seed they will no doubt reap from when it’s time to harvest. However, the difference sets in with what one sows. The teenager who reaps with joy and happiness is one who spends his/her time wisely. The reverse is equally true; those students, who waste time, always reap with sadness and regret. Like Miriam, if we do not make good use of our time at school, we are bound to suffer the consequences of our decisions in the future.
