Almost every woman out there complains about a certain feature on her body. The phrases, ‘my legs are too tiny’, ‘I have a big bust’, ‘I am short’ is common mantra in women dialogue.
Most concentrate on these and forgot about all the great features they are endowed and blessed with.
While growing up, Cynthia’s step-mother always told her she was very ugly, had huge owl eyes, unsightly teeth and pencil thin legs. She grew up hearing this chatter every time she did something wrong.
It stuck in her mind that every bit of her was far from beautiful.
She hated to smile and only wore clothes that covered her whole body up to her feet. She hated everybody who complimented her because she thought they were just a bunch of hypocrites lying to her.
In reality, Cynthia actually passed to be one of the girls on popular cover magazines or billboards. She was tall, with a chocolate skin complexion, had curves in all the right places but, she held a sad and pensive expression because of her low self-esteem.
One fine day, she decided to wear a fitting skirt that was just an inch below her knees and got heads turning and necks stiff. She wore mascara and eye shadow on her ‘huge owl eyes’.
She was showered with compliments and her pensive look became a sweet smiley face.
If Cynthia had never dared to wear that flattering skirt, mascara along with eye shadow, she would forever hate the features on her body.
Nobody can ever be content with every part of themselves; however, hating what you have got won’t help the matter either. Accentuating your best features is what will boost personal confidence!
If you are so proud of your huge eyes and nothing else on your body, then play around with them. Get the mascara, pencil liner, eye shadow and flaunt those eyes.
Highlighting all your strong assets will make the weak ones almost invisible. If you have a curvy body, bring it out. Wear the right fitting clothes that will flatter your body and bring out the curves.
Diana Rurangwa, a fashion freak says that women should dress according to their body types and skin color.
“If you have a big bust, then avoid clothes that are so tight but that doesn’t mean you wear over-sized clothes. Colourful clothes are in vogue and flatter the body,”says Rurangwa.
Every woman is endowed with one or more elements on their body that are striking! If you have it, emphasize it! Forget about the one thing on your body that you wish you could change. Accept and love your body.
