The headmaster of Groupe Scolaire Kagugu in Gasabo District, Edouard Nizeyimana, last week urged students to adopt the habit of washing their hands with soap to avoid contracting diseases.
He made the call during the student’s launch of a campaign to promote the habit at the annual celebration of Global Handwashing Day.
“I am not only appealing to you present today, but to all student`s countrywide that you should always wash your hands with soap as a measure of disease prevention,” Nizeyimana said.
He noted that besides toilets, children are exposed to many other places during their free time where they can easily be affected. During the event, students performed various activities including a play that promotes hygiene not only in schools but even in their homes.
The event was attended by local leaders, parents and top officials and representatives from United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund-Rwanda (UNICEF).
