Police vs Esperance 3pm
Police Football Club have set themselves high targets to win the 2013/14 Turbo King National League title after finishing second in the last two seasons.
Under new coach Sam Ssimbwa, the law and order enforcers’ team begins their campaign against newly promoted Esperance FC on Sunday at Kicukiro artificial turf, kick off at 3pm.
While addressing a press conference held on Friday at the Rwanda national police headquarters in Kacyiru to officially unveil the squad, club chairman (Retired) Colonel Ludovic Dodo Twahirwa promised full support to the team as they seek to win the first league title.
“In recent seasons, we have showed the potential and ability to win trophies, so we must do even more this season to make sure we go one step better after finishing second in the league in the last two seasons,” said the former Atraco FC (now defunct) boss.
Police FC’s 25-man squad was unveiled and will be captained by former APR defender Jean Bosco Uwacu with Amavubi Stars midfielder Fabrice Twagizimana as the vice captain.
Head coach Ssimbwa will be assisted Jean Paul Kalisa. Among the club’s new signings is former APR striker Kipson Atuheire
Dodo added, “Winning the title is a long journey that will require much seriousness, sacrifices, commitment, focus and together as a team if we (Police FC) are to bring an end to being the second-best team in the country.”
Also present was the club’s honorary president, Inspector General of Police Emmanuel Gasana, who urged players, coaching staff, the executive committee and the fans to work together in the best interest of the club.
