Many people in Rwanda previously lived under that the tyranny of gendarmerie. That’s a ‘police’ force that killed with impunity. That’s why I’m so grateful that we now have Rwanda National Police, a force that works closely with the people to ensure peace and security.
Historians should chronicle the major events of life under the previous regime to show the young Rwandans how far we have come as a nation. That way they will learn that it is the resilience of the Rwandan people that has enabled us rise above all sorts of adversities.
