Rwanda Cycling Federation chairman Aimable Bayingana has been nominated by the African Cycling Confederation (CAC) to supervise Continental Championships, slated for Nov 29–Dec 5 in Sharm al-Sheikh, Egypt.
The development was confirmed by the national cycling federation Permanent Secretary, Emmanuel Murenzi on Monday.
“The nomination is a sign of confidence that the African body has in Rwanda,” Murenzi said.
“We are pleased to have someone, who will go there not to tour and enjoy the mission but study how others organise big competitions and bring that knowledge back home to be applied in our own Tour du Rwanda in future,” he noted.
According to the official, Team Rwanda will take apart in the African Continental Championships, which will come just after the Tour du Rwanda, slated for November, 17-24.
Meanwhile the three teams that will represent ‘Team Rwanda’ are continuing their preparations ahead of this year’s Tour du Rwanda.
Murenzi said, “They are doing well in training and we believe this time they will do better than last year.” Rwanda will be represented by: Akagera, Karisimbi and Muhabura.
