The U-21 national volleyball team won its first warm-up match against Fenerbahce Volleyball Club on Sunday night as the team prepares for the Junior World Championships which gets underway August 22 through September 1 in the Turkish cities of Ankara and Izmir.

Paul Bitok’s team beat the Turkish side easily 25-18, 25-22, and 25-23. The two teams meet again on Tuesday (today) in the second warm-up match in Istanbul.

Bitok said, “It was an interesting game and we hope it will help the players confidence-wise ahead of the tournament. We are planning to play more (warm-up) games before the world championship starts.”

Debutants Rwanda will start their campaign against Pool C opponents United States of America on August 22, before taking on Tunisia on August 23, and then Canada on August 24 as well as Serbia on August 26.
