Rwanda vs Malawi 3pm
AMAVUBI Stars head coach Eric Nshimiyimana is in upbeat mood ahead of Wednesday’s Fifa international friendly match against Malawi at Stade de Kigali.
“The players are responding well in training because we are working hard to ensure that we put up a good performance on Wednesday. It’s a game we want to win to boost our confidence ahead of 2014 World Cup qualifier against Benin,” said Nshimiyimana.
Nshimiyimana has been boosted by the arrival of Amavubi assistant skipper Haruna Niyonzima, who plays for Tanzanian Premier League champions Yanga. The former APR and Rayon Sports midfielder joined camp on Monday.
AS Kigali striker Jimmy Mbaraga has also joined Amavubi, replacing Patrick Sibomana of APR, who had been mistakenly called up by Nshimiyimana yet the midfielder is on club duty with APR FC in the on-going EAC Military Games.
The Flames arrived in the country on Sunday and are staying at Sportsview Hotel. The team, under Belgian tactician Tom Saintfiet, will today use Stade de Kigali for training ahead of tomorrow’s clash.
The last time Amavubi took on The Flames was during in the group stages of last year’s Cecafa Challenge Cup in Kampala, Uganda, with Rwanda winning 2-0.
