RCA trains 40 kids

RWANDA Cricket Association is hosting a 10-day camp aimed at equipping kids with the knowledge about the sport.

RWANDA Cricket Association is hosting a 10-day camp aimed at equipping kids with the knowledge about the sport.

The development comes after a successful schools cricket tournament where 40 boys were selected for a holiday coaching camp.

The aim of the camp is to train and impart more skills into the youngsters, and also identify players that will represent Rwanda in the under 15, under 17 and 19 tournaments.

“The boys are very enthusiastic and keen to learn, from them we shall get very good players for the future,” coach Dusabemungu said.

The RCA General Manager Joshua Mwanja said, “This event is part of our development programme and it’s in line with our vision to promote cricket in local schools”.

“After the camp, we will select 14 players who will play against different schools in Uganda at the end of August,” said Mwanja.

The 10-day camp will come to an end on Friday August 9, ahead of the reopening of the next school term.
