The 11 finalists of the Primus GumaGuma Superstar (PGGSS) Season III music competition will today join residents of Kigali in the month community work ‘Umuganda’.

The stars are engaging in a series of Corporate Social Responsibility activities before the main competition kicks off later in May.

The 11 contestants, who include Dream Boyz, Riderman, Eric Senderi, Kamichi, Danny Nanone, Christopher, Knowless, Urban Boyz, Fireman, Bull Dog and Eddie Mico will shed off their glamour cloths and join residents of Gaculiro in Akaruvusha sector to do ‘Umuganda’.

According to Joseph Mushyoma, the CEO of East African Promoters, the organisers of the Bralirwa-sponsored music competition, during the community work, the PGGSS III participants will take time off to interact with the residents and their fans.

“It is important that the contestants get closer to the people who are the voters in the competition. It is also an opportunity to be part of an act of nation building,” says Mushyoma.

Last year, contestants also took part in Umuganda in Rebero Sector, Kicukiro district. Among other things, the contestants are expected to take part in genocide commemoration activities in the coming month of April.

The stars will also engage in a series of charitable events including visiting patients in hospitals among other things.

The contest will enter a competitive phase in May as the 11 musicians crisscross the country to prove their might while appealing for public votes.

After the road shows, the ultimate winner of the competition will be crowned in July
