THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed centre referee Hudu Munyemana to officiate at the forthcoming U-20 African Cup of Nations in Algeria.

The championships, the 19th edition, will take place in Algeria from March 16 to 30.

The appointment comes just weeks after another Rwandan assistant referee Felicien Kabanda returned from officiating at the African Cup of Nations in South Africa as well as the African Super Cup in Egypt.

The development was confirmed by Ferwafa’s officer in charge of referees Athanase Nkubito. The appointment is a testimony that the standards of officiating in Rwandan soccer are improving, he said.

Kenya’s first assistant referee Peter Sabatia was also summoned for the youth championship. Burundi was given one slot too for the African Junior championships.

In a related development, Gervais Munyanziza, Theogene Ndagijimana, Ambrose Hakizimana and Louis Hakizimana will officiate at the CAF Confederation Cup return leg between Al Nasir of South Sudan and Azam of Tanzania due on Saturday in Juba.

Rwanda has twelve Fifa licensed referees.
