AFC Leopards defender Jonas Nahimana ‘Pako’ has promised fans a season of trophies after the hard lesson of missing out on silverware last season.

Speaking to Kenyan media, the former Atraco and Kiyovu defender nicknamed Pako said, “We have to win something this season for the fans. I just feel pity that they had to endure a season of expectation but we couldn’t deliver something for them.”

“As a club we made mistakes that cost us the title last season.” “I was affected and felt the pain of not winning the title when we had it in sight last season.”

Nahimana was the top scoring defender in the Tusker Premier League with 5 goals and a runner-up for the Defender of the Year award. Since joining AFC Leopards in 2011, the Rwandan international was part of the formidable defence that set a new record of 23 unbeaten matches by the club that stretched between August 2011 and April 2012.

He played 29 out 30 of Leopard’s matches last season and has the most number of minutes of play at the club since 2011.

The Amavubi defender, who used the names Belsi Bamuma during his time with Atraco, believes the title is Leopards’ this season. “It’s ours. We will definitely take it.”

Leopards begin the title quest away to Chemelil at Kasarani on Sunday.
