Gasabo residents build offices, school

GASABO DISTRICT officials have opened two new cell offices and a school all worth Rwf100m in Kimihurura sector constructed
through contribution of residents. The inaugurated offices will serve Kamukina cell and Kimihurura cell, while the school blocks were constructed at Rugando 12-year basic education school. The district vice mayor for economic affairs, Jean Claude Munara, said through decentralisation, facilitated by local leaders, the residents do plan and set priorities.

“We appreciate these achievements by residents who have embraced the good mentality of owning development projects in their areas,’’ he said. The executive secretary of Kimihurura sector Mapambano Nyiridandi said the spirit of contributing to the
development projects is a result of the dialogue between local leaders and the residents. [By Théogène Ishimwe]

Good governance key to devt - Ngoma mayor

THE MAYOR of Ngoma district, Aphrodise Nambaje, has said progress and development were not strengthened by economic
advancement alone, but also by good governance. The Mayor made the remarks, yesterday, while addressing hundreds of
residents in Kibungo sector, about the ongoing campaign for good governance.

“Poor service delivery, corruption and poorly functioning administration are massive obstacles to development. This explains why good governance has become a key concept in development strategies in our country,” the Mayor said. Nambaje said the ongoing campaign for good governance across communities would equally emphasise good service delivery and accountability.  [By Stephen Rwembeho]
