NYAGATARE — Seven parliamentary candidates have been selected to contest on the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) ticket in Nyagatare.
The seven including Cony Bwiza Sekamana, Jacqueline Kanzaire, Immaculée Mukamuhizi, Francine Ngwinondebe, Justin Gatsinzi and Francis Ndekezi were unveiled to party members over the weekend.
District party chairman, Robert Kashemeza announced the selected candidates at a function where the candidates were asked to show discipline during the forth coming parliamentary elections.
The call for discipline was made by Angelina Muganza, the Executive Secretary of the Public Service Commission (PSC).
Muganza also cautioned the candidates against breaching the electoral laws during their party campaigns and subsequent elections.
Kashemeza, who is also the district Mayor, cautioned the candidates against starting campaigns before the official date set by the National Electoral Commission (NEC).
“This is not the opening of campaigns,” Kashemeza said.
“We wanted to present you before your party members for them to know who to vote in the forthcoming elections. Please don’t start your campaigns before the official opening,” Kashemeza warned.
Kashemeza urged party members to avoid election malpractices, saying international observers are ready to see the out comes of the September elections.
“I’m sure, international observers are here to see the results of our elections, and I know they will be happy with our smooth elections,” Kashemeza added.
Muganza on the other hand also appealed to the candidates to avoid conflicts among themselves and other party members to ensure smooth exercise.
She appealed to all party members to mobilize their fellow members who had not attended the meeting to massively participate in the elections.
Other areas in the district where the party candidates will be presented are Katabagemu, Mimuri, Rwimiyaga, Nyakigando and Muhambo.
