SOUTHERN PROVINCE GISAGARA—twenty three members of a religious sect are in custody alleged of having boycotted the just concluded national identity card registration. The sect that has majority of its followers being women is believed to have disassociated its selves from mainstream Pentecostal Church of Rwanda (ADEPR). The sect is currently based in Gisagara. According to the district Mayor of Gisagara, Leonard Karenzi said the suspects adamantly refused to register insisting that the exercise is not in line with their faith. “We considered this as an act of ignorance; we explained to them that registration was conditional but they refused to register,” Karenzi said. However, the Executive Secretary of Mukindo Sector, David Muhire said that sect has a wider case in authorities. “These people are so complicated. They have refused subscribe to Mutuelle de Sante,” Muhire said. Once of the coordinators of the national identity card registration, Steven Rusagara said that the sect members claimed those national identity cards are tickets to hell. According to area residents, the sect members pray from a home of one of the followers. They also have a big number of followers in Kibilizi Sector. Ends
