According to media reports, the Ministry of Labour and Public Service (Mifotra) is to offer Rwf234million to help street vendors get permanent premises. Once this happens, we should expect a transformation of hawkers’ lives.
The city authority’s initiative to train over 1,500 hawkers in business management to help them formalise their enterprises was further proof that the Government has the welfare of all citizens at heart. Moreover, the vendors will be offered a one-year tax waiver to help them start growing smoothly.
Through streamlining this informal sector, every one stands to benefit.
