Sredojovic Milutin Micho’s men rose to 106th from 114 after reaching the final of the just concluded Cecafa Challenge Tusker Cup held in Dar es salaam, Tanzania unbeaten.

Rwanda lost the title 2-3 on penalties after 2-all draw after 120 minutes of play to ensure a 12th Cecafa title for the Uganda Cranes.

Rwanda is also ranked 27th in Africa and the second highest ranked team in Cecafa behind Uganda who moved up two places to 89th position.

Neighbours Kenya was the highest climber in Africa after moving 13 places to 120 and fourth in Cecafa behind Sudan who dropped one place to 113.

Nigeria, opponents in the preliminary round of 2013 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers remained on 43rd position in the world and 5th in Africa.

Cote d’Ivoire remains Africa’s best ranked team in the world. The Elephants are on 16th position followed by Ghana (29) and Algeria (30) respectively.

World and European champions Spain remain unchallenged at the top of the table, followed by the Netherlands, Germany and Uruguay who are all still competing in an exciting head-to-head battle for second place.

As the top team at year-end, Spain is the Team of the Year for the fourth year in a row.
