Cecafa Tusker Challenge Cup
Zimbabwe 0-1 Uganda
Tanzania 1-0 Malawi
DEFENDING champions Tanzania and Uganda had to dig deep to qualify to the last four of the on-going Cecafa Tusker Challenge Cup in Dar es Salaam.
Uganda, who are gunning for a record 12th title, edged Zimbabwe (1-0) courtesy of Khamis Kiza’s 14th minute strike while the hosts (Tanzania) had Nurdin Bakari to thank for launching onto a well executed set piece from Mrisho Ngasa on the 36th minute.
Malawi tried to fight back but could not break the Kilimanjaro Stars’ defense manned by Juma Nyoso and Erasto Nyoni.
With Rwanda and Sudan clashing in the 1st semi-final, the second semi-final pits the Uganda Cranes against Tanzania.
This year’s winner will pocket $30,000 while the first and second runners-up will settle for $20,000 and $10,000 respectively.
