Ahead of the CAR15s

THE national men’s rugby side, the Silverbacks, have doubled their training sessions ahead of next month’s Confederation for African Rugby (CAR) 15s tournament.

The annual event which will be staged in Kigali is slated to run from October 9-16.

The team now trains every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with the rest of the week reserved for gym work.

Rwanda won last year’s edition after beating Burundi in a two-legged final at Amahoro stadium.

The first leg ended 39-0 while the return leg was alot more competitive (19-0).

The Silverbacks have had an interesting run this year after reaching the Bowl final of the Kwoloo 10s in Hong Kong as well as the Prestigious Safari 7s in Kenya.

Tanzania, Seychelles, Burundi and the DRC are all expected to grace the CAR15s.
