Local Gospel music producer Emile Nzeyimana has emerged as this year’s best producer in the Mwafaka Awards.

The awards that seeks to promote upcoming gospel artistes, was held at City Hall plaza in Nairobi, Kenya last weekend.

Various regional media personalities also got a nod from the awards, not necessarily for hosting Christian shows, but for walking the walk. They were awarded on the grounds of their lifestyles and vouched for by their pastors.

They include Citizen TV news anchor Kanze Dena, Johnston Mwakazi, KTN’s Ann Soi, K24’s Caleb Karuga, GBS’ Justel Njau and NTV’s Mark Masai. Check out the complete list below.

The event organisers pulled all the stops to ensure that the awards were still glitzy and glamorous. The artistes did not disappoint either, turning up in their best and putting on quite a show. For some, it was the first time they were getting recognised for their efforts, while for others, they had traveled this road before.

Song of the Year went to male-group Skizza for their song “Naona Macho”, Dance Group of the Year was awarded to Alabastar, while Mc Dice walked away with the Video of the Year category for his R&B single “On and On”.

The Male Artist of The Year category went to Kris for the single “Eeh Baba”, as Sadu Brothers of Linus Muiruri and James Mwangi were awarded Group Artiste of the Year category. Collabo Song of the year award went to Real Geez, for their song “Kaza Kamba”featuring Luminus and DJ Germain.

Eastlands based entertainment company Mwafaka Entertainment, are shading off the myopic scope of the awards and are expanding this year’s awards list to encompass the wider East Africa.

This year’s new categories include: hit song of the year, TV personality, high school of the year, among others.
