GICUMBI - The police in Gicumbi District have detained a man who allegedly murdered a security guard last week.
Police sources in the district said Deodonne Sept was arrested after carrying out ‘thorough investigations’.
Jean Batiste Kanyarwanda, who was a security guard at a Pentecostal Church, was hit to death recently as he returned to his home from work.
According to the police, Sept killed Kanyarwanda after the deceased had recognised him.
“The evidence gathered from the scene where the crime took place is enough to prosecute him,” said Gicumbi Chief Prosecutor, Azarias Nsengimana Rwagasana.
However, the police added that more investigations were underway.Sept could could be handed a life sentence if convicted.
