THE country’s football federation (Ferwafa) president Brig. Gen. Jean Bosco Kazura has challenged FIFA’s presidential candidates Sepp Blatter and Mohammed Bin Hammam to show what they plan to do for Rwanda.
With less than a week to the elections, Kazura stressed that while the confederation of African Football (Caf) has already endorsed Blatter as its choice, the country will support the candidate who fronts her best interests.
“We need to hear from both sides and then take a stand,” Kazura said.
Blatter, 75, has been in charge of FIFA since 1998 but faces stiff competition from Hammam who masterminded Qatar’s 2022 world cup bid.
Blatter’s reputation suffered when a serving Fifa vice-president and another executive committee member were banned from all football-related activity for up to three years after corruption allegations were upheld.
Hammam visited Rwanda last month and held discussions with Prime Minister Bernard Makuza.
The Fifa presidential elections will be held on June 1 in Zurich.
