The Management of Gasabo District, over the weekend, donated an assortment of items to 34 Genocide survivors in Ndera Sector in Kigali City.
The items included sacks of maize flour, beans, sewing machines and flat irons.
The beneficiaries include orphans and widows.
The district also rented premises for the survivors to carry out sewing activities to boost their incomes and make them sustain themselves.
Addressing residents and the beneficiaries, the District Executive Secretary Ibrahim Ndagijimana urged them to always support vulnerable genocide survivors.
He asked them to effectively use the materials for maximum output.
Ndagijimana further encouraged the survivors to work hard and be optimistic.
Speaking to The New Times, Ndagijimana said that the district also constructed houses for them.
One of the beneficiaries Jean Claude Manzi said: “We thank the district for this donation because it will help us fight poverty, idleness and isolation.”
