APR yesterday took the number of league titles to a dozen after they were crowned champions of Rwanda for the 12th time in 16 years.

The military side won the championship last week, courtesy of a 2-0 win over Etincelles but were officially recognised as the 2010/11 Primus National Football League champions last evening after a 1-1 draw against La Jeunesse at Amahoro stadium.

The champions scored first in the first half through striker Abass  Rassou but the Nyamirambo side equalised in the latter stages of the second half when Pierre Rwaka converted from the penalty spot.

APR has now won the championship four years in a row and Coach Ernest Brandts is targeting two more trophies in the form of Peace Cup and Cecafa trophy as the club bids to repeat the heroics of last season when they won a treble of league, Peace cup and Cecafa triumph.

“Our league form has been magnificent this season. We have so far played 19 matches and only lost once. The players, fans and club administrators all made this possible. We are now targeting two more trophies.” the former Dutch international said.

This is the second time that APR has won four titles in four years. The military side last dominated the league for four consecutive years from 2000-2004.
In the other league games played yesterday, Rayon Sport defeated Mukura 2-1 to move into 4th position in the league table standing.

Ugandan international Mike Sserumaga scored both goals. Etincelles also defeated Amagaju 2-0 to move into 5th place.
