Heavy rains wash out SC Kiyovu-La Jeunesse match

SundaySC Kiyovu 1-1 La Jeunesse (abandoned) Today, 3.30pmSC Kiyovu vs Jeunesse (replay) HEAVY rains forced the 2010/11 Primus National League match between SC Kiyovu and La Jeunesse to be abandoned yesterday at Nyamirambo stadium. The match was abandoned at the 50th minute when the scores were standing at 1-1, and according to rules governing the local league, the game will have to be replayed today. However, Kiyovu’s coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira was left fuming after referee Claude Nsabimana canceled what the former APR and Atraco coach believed was a genuine goal before the match was abandoned. Ntagwabira said, “It is not good to entrust these kind of matches to inexperienced referees. If the federation wants these referees to gain experience then they should combined them with other senior referees because they make a lot of mistakes.” Asked whether his players will be able to overcome their youthful opponents, Ntagwabira said, “Even yesterday (before the game was stopped) we were in control but the referee spoilt it even before the rain washed it off. “We are a better team (than La Jeunesse) and I believe we will win the replay but the federation should look into the refereeing issue,” noted the former Rwandan international, who is looking for his first win of the new season after losing the opener 1-0 to AS Kigali. Before the match was abandoned, Jack Tuyisenge had put the hosts in the lead but 20 minutes later former Kiyovu striker Idebrand Nshuti silenced the stadium with a brilliant individual strike for the newly promoted La Jeunesse.
