RWANDA Cricket Association (RCA) yesterday secured Rwf 2 million from Caisse Sociale for the upcoming schools cricket tournament.
The cheque was delivered to RCA’s Secretary General Emmanuel Byiringiro by Caisse Sociale’s acting director Oswald Munyandeke who said that the Social Security Fund body was happy to associate with Rwandan cricket.
Munyandeke also said that he was impressed by the increase in the number of schools participating.
The tournament, which will attract 14 schools, will be played concurrently with the inaugural inter-university competition.
The universities in question include National University of Rwanda (NUR), ISAE Busogo, Rukara College of Education and Kicukiro College of Technology (KCT).
In last year’s schools tournament, Kagarama took the girls’ accolade while ADB were crowned champions in the boys’ category.
