Projects from Rwanda on display at the Venice architectural biennale.

Editor, Most countries in the world have some sort of style that defines the building that they inhabit. It saddens me that, despite our rich history and culture, I haven’t seen many buildings that mirror this richness. Many of the residential houses and offices that are being built all over the country simply ape those found in Europe and North America. It is time that we embraced our own identity as Rwandans.

Editor,

Most countries in the world have some sort of style that defines the building that they inhabit. It saddens me that, despite our rich history and culture, I haven’t seen many buildings that mirror this richness. Many of the residential houses and offices that are being built all over the country simply ape those found in Europe and North America. It is time that we embraced our own identity as Rwandans.

I found it interesting that Rwanda, for the first time is participating in the International Architecture Exhibition which is taking place in the Italian city of Venice. Maybe our participation in this exhibition shall kick start Rwanda-centric architecture.
