Musanze celebrates victory

NEWS of a landslide victory for the RPF candidate, Paul Kagame, sparked off massive celebrations with thousands of residents in all villages in Musanze District gathering to mark the victory.

Celebrations were characterised by victory songs, as residents shared their experience regarding what the government had ushered in, especially in the circles of socio-economic spheres which has witnessed a transformation in rural communities.

The preliminary results announced by the National Electoral Commission indicated that  President Kagame won by 92.9 percent, while the nearest candidate, PSD’s Dr. Jean Damascene Ntawukuriryayo got 4.9 %.

‘’We have been waiting for this memorable day, to show our appreciation to Paul Kagame’s good leadership. He has changed our life from poor, homeless people to a settled community with milk and food’’ Mukamurigo Madeline, 60 said.

The RPF president in Nengo village in Busogo, Naphatal Muhayimana, said that the atmosphere of the voting exercise on Monday showed RPF’s capacity to ensure peace and order in the country

Supporters revealed that the anticipated triumph hinged on the development initiatives which RPF had ensured, and were optimistic of greater things in the next term of President Paul Kagame

Commenting about the elections atmosphere and the people’s will, Pastor Fidele Bizimana, a Burundian observer under Quaker Peace Network-QPN, said that the election should serve an example to other nations in terms of peace, security and order experienced.
