The National police has commended the public for their behaviour during the ongoing Presidential campaigns.
In a statement released yesterday, the Police spokesperson, Eric Kayiranga, said that the security situation has generally been calm.
“The Police, therefore, expresses honest and sincere gratitude to the contestants and the general public for their cooperation during this period,” he said.
However, he indicated that there are a few minor isolated incidents such as road accidents due to over-speeding, over-loading and reckless driving.
Kayiranga said that the police was aware of rumours being spread to instil discomfort in the general public.
“We request each and everyone to report such cases to the police whenever they are discovered for the sake of crime prevention,” he added.
“To this end, the Police is warning against all malpractices during this election process. The law still stands and should be respected by all. Any act or omission of the legal provisions will be legally dealt with,” Kayiranga said.
