IFAD boss commends progress in agriculture

The visiting president of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has commended Rwanda’s Agricultural sector for the progress it has achieved. While addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Kigali, Kanayo Nwanze said that he has been very impressed by Rwanda’s progress.

The visiting president of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has commended Rwanda’s Agricultural sector for the progress it has achieved.

While addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Kigali, Kanayo Nwanze said that he has been very impressed by Rwanda’s progress.

“Rwanda is the first country I have managed to visit in eastern Africa, and according to my analysis and observation, it has done tremendous work in different ways in the agricultural sector, though they still have a long way to go”

He revealed that next year his organisation will finance projects that aim at increasing agro productivity estimated at US$40m.

He also noted that the overall objective of IFAD’s country programme is to empower rural people to participate in transforming the agricultural sector.
