Over 2,500 delegates from across the African continent will be attending the summit that opens today at the Kigali Convention Center. It will run until Friday July 21. The forum seeks to chart a future for the continent’s youth by showcasing their potential and highlighting available opportunities.

Dubbed ‘I am Kigali Street Party’, the concert seeks to celebrate youth and diversity, and will feature musical performances from renowned local acts like the Urban Boyz (pictured below), Deo Munyakazi, Mike Kayihura, Eric Onekey, Kinga Blues, Makumbi Sound, and the rapper Angel Mutoni.

Attending the Youth Connekt Summit are Heads of State, government leaders, executives from multinational companies that operate in Africa, leaders of civil society organisations, Africa’s development partners, members of the academia, successful young entrepreneurs, artists and youth opinion leaders from across the continent.

According to a statement from the organisers, the ‘I am Kigali Street Party’ will serve to act as a space for conversations and interaction on what it means to be from Kigali and what it means to be a local in any part of the world. Entrance is free.
