History beckons for Ghana

WELL, well, well….thumbs up for Ghana. They came to the tournament as underdogs; lost to Germany but a win and draw against Serbia and Australia saw them through to the second round. Even at this stage, they were favourites to go home against a fast and spirited USA side.

WELL, well, well….thumbs up for Ghana. They came to the tournament as underdogs; lost to Germany but a win and draw against Serbia and Australia saw them through to the second round.

Even at this stage, they were favourites to go home against a fast and spirited USA side. But here they are-in the quarter-finals. They are only the second African team to reach this far in the history of the competition after Cameroon in 1990.

They are now a game away from becoming the first team to reach the semi-final of the greatest sports event in the world.

Africa should be proud and hopeful for this is a team with plenty left in the tank.

Their next opponents Uruguay should watch out for their physicality and newly found sharpness infront of goal. Strikes from Kevin-Prince Boateng and Asamoah Gyan against USA are testament of that.

African fans down south need to back Ghana because that’s the least they can do for themselves and Africa at large.

Ayoba… Ayoba!!!
