We write to inform the general public on an opportunity for Rwandan youth to participate in a leadership and mentorship program.
In response to interest from Fellows around the world, Eisenhower Fellowships (EF) has launched a new program aimed at youth aged 18 to 25 years known as the Eisenhower Youth Leadership Network.
Rwandan youth are encouraged to apply, and interested candidates should submit an application describing their experience and accomplishments, as well as how they believe they can serve and lead their communities and peers. Applicants will need to articulate a project idea and attend an in-person interview with the selection committee in their home country.
Successful candidates will participate in a conference from 14 to 17 September 2017 in Malaga, Spain and a one day leadership workshop. The youth leaders who are selected to attend will have a chance to shape a permanent program designed to encourage and enhance other young leaders from around the world.
The application process and further details can be found under this link >> https://www.efworld.org/
Rwanda currently has a total of 5 Eisenhower Fellows (2016 & 2017) who will form the selection committee for applicants of the Eisenhower Youth Leadership Network.
The Eisenhower Youth Leaders selected from Rwanda will benefit from exposure and access to a global network of accomplished leaders in all sectors and from every region of the world. EF will also ensure that each young person is connected to at least one mentor who commits to working with the young man or woman for at least one year. Post-program, the Eisenhower Youth Leaders will be expected to share what they have learned with their university community and beyond, and commit to mentoring someone younger than themselves.
The Eisenhower Fellowships (EF) program was founded in 1953 as a tribute to Dwight D. Eisenhower as he assumed the U.S. presidency. Chaired by General Colin L. Powell, USA (Retired) and headquartered in Philadelphia, EF identifies outstanding leaders from around the world to enhance their professional capabilities, broaden their contacts, deepen their perspectives, and unite them in a diverse, global network where dialogue, understanding, and collaboration lead to a more prosperous, just, and peaceful world.
