Two FRVB officials in Police hands over corruption charges

Two officials of the Rwanda volleyball Federation (FRVB) are currently in Police custody as investigations go on, on allegation that they illegally used federation money to buy votes during last week’s elections for the new executive committee.

Two officials of the Rwanda volleyball Federation (FRVB) are currently in Police custody as investigations go on, on allegation that they illegally used federation money to buy votes during last week’s elections for the new executive committee.

 

The incus-rated pair includes; Executive Secretary Christian Hatumimana and Treasurer Jeannette.

 

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Theos Badege confirmed that both Hatumimana and Uwera are being investigated on allegations that also include misusing federation money.

“It is true we have arrested them on corruption and embezzlement allegations but the investigations are still in preliminary stages. The Police want to get to the bottom of the investigations and everyone involved will be disclosed and the law will take its course,” said ACP Badege.

FRVB president Gustave Nkurunziza was re-elected for a second four-year term, beating former national team player and mayor of Ntongwe and Gisagara districts, Leandre Karekezi, by 18-9 votes.

Julius Kagarama Kansiime returned unopposed as first vice president, while Jean Pierre Ribanje was elected as second vice president.
