Les Léopards have never failed to go out of the group stages at the previous three editions, and will start the match as favourites against Ethiopia, who made their CHAN debut at the last edition in South Africa, which was won by Libya. Ethiopia will be seeking for redemption following a disappointing early exit after finishing bottom of group C that also included Ghana, Libya and Congo-Brazzaville. Ethiopia drew 1-1 with Niger, who are in Group C along with Tunisia, Nigeria and Guinea. Speaking to Sunday Sport ahead of the game, DR Congo head coach Ibengé said,“We are ready for the game because we have had enough time to rest after playing some preparation games. All players are fit and in a good mood and looking forward to Sunday’s match.” “Just like other teams in our group, Ethiopia is not a small team and we expect a tough challenge from them but as I have told my players, getting three points in the opening match is the most important,” he added.
