I would like to reiterate what President Paul Kagame, said on Tuesday at the Amahoro National Stadium while addressing thousands of members of Itorero ry’Igihugu,. He said, and I quote…“youth are the strength of the nation, the future of tomorrow’s Rwanda. Women, you are the pillars and the parents of these youth, and the men are equally the pillars of this country”. I like the statement he made.
Only when, men, women and youth are pushing in the same direction can there be progress. If the women pull while the others push, Rwanda will stay standing in the same place.
Therefore, while the youth are the future of the nation, they will only reach their full potential when their parents do a good job rearing them.
It is, then, the adults huge responsibility to make sure that the next generation of Rwandan leaders is one that is patriotic and incorrigible as well.
It is the young peoples duty to understand that they don’t know everything, and therefore listen to those older than them, because they have wisdom. Wisdom that we lack.
