Charis Unmanned Aerial Solutions (CHARIS UAS) has been awarded the ITU TELECOM AWARD for its excellence in providing and promoting innovative ICT solutions with social impact.
The awarding ceremony that was held under the theme; ‘Innovation for smarter digital development’ took place last week in Durban, South Africa.
The ITU Telecom World Awards recognises excellence in tech small medium enterprises and large companies worldwide that provide innovative solutions with real social impact.
They also aim at growing fast ideas to make the world a better place. The awards gathered people and industries from all over the world including major industry players such as tech SMEs and those that deal in international visibility for innovative ICT products, technologies and solutions.
High-level debates were held by experts on the core issues affecting the ICT sector who also shared knowledge and best practices across emerging and developed markets.
Charis UAS was one of the exhibitors at the event where they promoted the use of drones to provide various services in various industries including: agriculture, construction, infrastructure, inspection, mapping, mining, monitoring, photogrammetry, and aerial photography & videography.
The CEO and founder of Charis UAS, Eric Rutayisire, said that the award was a recognition of the tireless work and quality of Made in Rwanda services.
“We are so grateful to the country’s leadership for inspiring us and providing the right platform. A big Thank You goes to the Ministry of Information Technology and Communication (MiTEC) for their support.”
Rutayisire said that they felt the sense of responsibility and that it was just the beginning because there was a lot more they needed to achieve.
“There are big challenges that we face in Africa that we need to tackle through innovative solutions with dynamic practices and efficient use of technology,” he added.
Charis UAS is a local drone company in Rwanda that specialises in providing rapid and high quality aerial imagery to various industries to support intelligent decision-making.
