There is a specific kind of jewelry that can be cleaned with a mild soap and water solution for instance pearls. Other gemstones require using a soft brush while cleaning them but never use strong detergents to clean jewelry. Avoid using coarse cleaners or scratchy cloth on your jewelry because they can scratch away the coating thus damaging the gemstone.
