It is alarming to see a lot of counterfeit currency in circulation especially in Kigali City. The counterfeited notes are mainly in five hundred, one thousand and to a small extent in five thousand francs denominations. It is common to find someone taking some 30 minutes scrutinising a currency note because of these suspicions. I therefore request the governor of National Bank of Rwanda to protect our currency by taking firm action on fake money dealers in the country. Some time back, the police had raided some of the hideouts of counterfeit makers and we had had some kind of relief but they seem to be at it again. Kimironko
