WHEN you want to define a celebration, nothing does it better than the East African party. People flocked the Amahoro Stadium on the 1st of January and welcomed 2013 in style. The MC’s of the night were Rwanda’s very own Mc Tino and Mc Anita. They kept the fans excitement consistent with comedy. The night reached another level of excitement every time an artist took the mic. The crowed jumped up and down, threw their hands up in their air and sang along to each song! Rwandan artists that graced the event were King James, Jay Polly, the sweet voiced Knowless, Mani Martin, Kamichi and Riderman among others. But the real treat was Fuse ODG of the Azonto fame from Ghana and Kidumu from Burundi. Fuse ODG hit the stage around midnight and gave an electrifying performance. Kidumu threw the crowd into total chaos. His sizable crew took up multiple roles on stage, from background vocal singers to lead singers and even dancers.“I have travelled to many parts of the world but Rwanda is one of the best so far. The people are cool and the ladies are not only beautiful but also very wise,” said the Azonto singer. Kidum said he really felt at home. “I am very pleased to have my first party of the year in Kigali, it feels like a home away from home,” he echoed. The event was organized by the East Africa Promoters and was sponsored by Bralirwa, MTN, KFM and Radio One among others.
