Coupe du Rwanda, Genocide tourney cancelled

This year’s Genocide memorial volleyball tournament and Coupe du Rwanda have been delayed due to financial constraints, Volleyball federation Executive Secretary, Gertrude Kubwimana has told to Times Sports.Kubwimana confirmed that the two competitions might not take place because the federation has filled to get the funds.“I can confirm that the two tournaments (Coupe du Rwanda and Genocide Memorial Tournament) will not take place this year as we did not get sponsorship,” she said.The Genocide memorial tournament was supposed to be played the weekend of June 9-10, but financial problems forced the federation to call it off. Coupe du Rwanda was supposed to be played after the league season.The annual Genocide memorial tournament was expected to attract teams from Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Congo-Brazzaville and Tanzania in both men and women’s categories. Last year CNLG pumped Rwf10m into the Genocide memorial tournament.
