Theophile Rurangwa, the Chargé d’Affaires at the High Commission of Rwanda in Ghana has called for sustained efforts to bring to book all perpetrators of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. ALSO READ: Rwandans still await justice 29 years after Genocide He was speaking during an event organised by the Rwandan Community in Benin with support from the High Commission of Rwanda in Ghana, to commemorate the 29th anniversary of the 1994 genocide. Held in the Beninese commercial capital of Cotonou, the commemoration event was attended by Beninese government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, friends of Rwanda, and the Rwandan community living and working in the west African country. Rurangwa told the audience that there is “a need for all leaders to strive for justice and ensure that all perpetrators of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi who are living in impunity, three decades later, are brought to book.” ALSO READ: Belgian lawyer on why genocide ideology doesn’t dissolve three decades after dispersion of genocidaires He highlighted the growing prevalence of genocide denial and revisionism and asked the international community to uphold the fight against the ideology of genocide, particularly that which continues to be directed at the Tutsi including currently in eastern DR Congo.
