The law should have limits I read an article in this very paper about the law on abortion and I noticed how men were so strongly against it. It is rather annoying hearing a man telling a woman what she can or cannot do with her body. Personally, I am not a fan of abortion but I do understand that circumstances force a woman to such measures. Plus, what I would choose for myself or the advice I would give a friend is not the law!Why I have issues with men being so passionate about prohibiting abortion is for one, men are pros at denying responsibility. They are experts when it comes to impregnating women then without a care in the world head for the door the jiffy she announces a missed period! If he does for some reason acknowledge the child, getting alimony becomes a nightmare and sometimes women have to raise kids on their own. And that is just the beginning. The same man usually goes out in pursuit of another unsuspecting lady giving him children even King Solomon would feel shy about!Women can choose not to have abortions if that is what they want, but the law really needs to butt out of our business. Yes, it is our business. What I do with my body is no other person’s business but mine. People need to be free to make decisions and mistakes others might not agree with like drinking, smoking or wearing silly things like winter coats in our hot African weather!Why should the law tell me what’s best for me as if it will be there through financial strains? Women around the world get raped day in day out but cases are never treated with the brutality they deserve. In fact, they are forced to keep rape incidents to themselves because people seldom believe them. There are always questions surrounding the incident like, why were you out so late, why did you go out with him if he is a rapist (as if it was tattooed on his forehead), are you sure you did not lead him on, why were you dressed seductively (so every girl who wears a cleavage showing top is asking to be raped?)I am not “pro-abortion” or “anti-life” as some might insinuate. I simply choose to place my empathy with those already on the planet. Why is it these conservatives care so much for a baby before it’s born then quickly point fingers to the families of these babies when it comes to providing health care and other life essentials? I like life; as a matter of fact I wish every pregnant woman would choose life. I wish every woman had adequate resources and lots of money to raise her kids without worrying about survival. But that’s not the case with a woman staring at two pink lines on a pregnancy test. It is not anyone’s business to come between a woman and her heath or the medical decisions she makes about her uterus! Some women simply can’t handle the stress of another child, others are victims to hideous crimes like rape (we don’t need to rub salt to the wound!)Fathers are raping their own kids and I just don’t see how I would want to have my brother/sister at the same time daughter/son too! Let it be legalised so that women can have safer methods of doing it other than being driven to desperate measures that include some shady doctor!
