Friday’s resultsAl-Hilal 5-1 DFC 8e ArrondissementES Sahel 3-2 APR Esperance 3-1 BrikamaNational league champions APR Fc will have to invent other ways of beating North African opponents over two legs following their disappointing exit from the this year’s Africa Champions League in the first round.The military side, who last year lost to Tunisia’s Club Africain 0-4 at the first round stage, suffered another disappointing exit albeit in controversial fashion after a 2-3 loss to Etoile Sportive du Sahel on Friday.With tie tied goalless from the first leg, Etoile Sportive du Sahel took the lead on 9th minute with an excellent goal from Lassad Jaziri but APR regrouped and got the equaliser on 39th minute from Uganda import Dan Wagaluka.In the second half, Burundian international Papy Faty gave APR the lead with the second goal but minutes later he was sent off by Ghanaian referee Agbovi William.Jaziri scored the equalising goal to make it 2-2 in stoppage time and with still APR with the advantage to progress, however, fans stormed the field causing chaos and in the process, Papy was sent off and the referee added over ten minutes of stoppage time.Playing 11 against 10, Jaziri grabbed the winner which sent the military side out of this year’s elite competition.Elsewhere, Sudanese side AL Hilal reached the second round of this the competition with a 5-1 overcoming DFC 8e Arrondissement.Holders Esperance of Tunisia dispatched Brikamana United of Gambia 3-1 to reach the second round on 4-1 goal aggregates.
