Rwandans in Brussels organize fete

Over 500 Rwandans and friends of Rwanda residing in Belgium are expected to attend a get-together reception (Ubusabane) to be hosted by the Rwandan embassy in Brussels, this Saturday. The event will be preceded by the presentation of a letter of credence by Rwanda’s Ambassador-designate to Belgium, Robert Masozera, to the Belgian King Albert II, on Wednesday. Until a head of state formally accepts a letter of credence, an ambassador-designate cannot formally assume diplomatic status, including the possession of diplomatic immunity. Masozera told The New Times that the timing is very good and the event important and significant, especially to Rwandans living in the European country. “It is the appropriate time to invite friends, colleagues, and compatriots to attend and use that opportunity to present our agenda, programmes and vision,” said Masozera. He reiterated that it will be an opportune moment to once again notify the Diaspora community how important they are “and to show them that, together, we will work closely for the benefit of our beloved country.” “I will also tell friends of Rwanda that we value them, recognise them and appreciate their friendship. And of course, I will share with my audience some current information from Rwanda.” Prior to his appointment as ambassador, Masozera was the head of the Diaspora Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
