Rwandan basketball giants Patriots BBC have completed the signing of American forward Germaine Vashon Roebuck Jr. A reliable source confirmed to Times Sport that the player agreed to play for the club during the 2023 season. The 25-year-old is already in the country and was part of the team that lost to Rwanda Energy Group (REG) 83-69 in Friday’s league match held at Lycee de Kigali Gymnasium. Despite the Patriots' defeat, the American put up an impressive performance where he contributed 18 points and 7 rebounds. Roebuck Jr most recently played for City Oilers, the champions of Uganda’s basketball league. Born in Champaign Illinois, he played basketball at Champaign central high school and later joined Calumet College - a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) school. He now joins a long list of international players who have inked deals to play for various local sides in this year’s basketball league. For example, American point guard William Perry and Spanish forward Alvaro Masa signed for the Kigali Titans while forward Delwan Graham recently joined REG. Meanwhile, Rwanda Basketball League will take a break after the first round came to a close over the weekend.
