Bank of Kigali (BK) has taken its 60th anniversary celebrations beyond Kigali, combining top-flight football and live music in Rubavu as part of a nationwide tour to mark six decades of operations. The celebrations kicked off on Saturday, October 31, with a special BK Pro League weekend that brought together football fans and music lovers in the Western Province district. On the pitch, APR FC secured a 2-0 victory over hosts Etincelles FC, before musicians Riderman and Juno Kizigenzaentertained supporters at an evening concert, with DJ RY providing music between performances. The celebrations continued on Sunday, November 1, when Marine FC hosted Rayon Sports FC in another BK Pro League fixture, with Rayon Sports securing a 2-1 victory. DJ June is scheduled to entertain fans around the match, while Kitoko Bibarwa will headline the post-match concert. The Rubavu event marks the beginning of BK's anniversary tour, which will take football and music activities to communities across the country in the coming weeks. Through the initiative, the bank seeks to extend its anniversary celebrations beyond the capital and engage customers and communities through popular forms of entertainment. For sixty years, Bank of Kigali has grown alongside the people of Rwanda, and this anniversary is theirs as much as ours. Taking the celebration to Rubavu and beyond is our way of saying thank you, through the football and music that bring Rwandans together, said Thabit Bin Hassan Habineza, BK's PR and Corporate Communications Manager. He said the turnout on Saturday reflected the spirit of the celebrations, adding that the bank looked forward to another day of football and entertainment. The tour is part of BK@60, a year-long programme marking the bank's establishment in 1966. BK is the title sponsor of the BK Pro League, using match weekends as platforms to bring sporting and entertainment activities closer to communities. The bank says the celebrations are intended to recognise the customers and communities that have been part of its growth over the past six decades.
